Every cocktail has a story.

So we asked our General Manager & Beverage Director, @reirarose, the creative force behind our cocktail program, to share the inspiration behind hers🍸:

“Whenever I set out to create a new cocktail, I am always trying my best evoke a particular feeling, in a way that blurs the line between the fantastical and reality.

For example, with the ‘Rusty UFO’, I always call it the “best dirty cherry Coke you’ll ever drink” and when I taste that cocktail, it feels like being a kid, hanging out with your friends on a sunny Saturday afternoon, skateboarding an empty pool and sipping a soda you swiped from the broken vending machine. But, it also somehow feels like being a space cowboy, armed with a laser gun, riding through the dust clouds of planet Mars on your way to the saloon, and I love how when you really think about those two feelings, you start realize they’re not actually not very dissimilar at all.

When it comes to ingredients, I am in a very lucky position, because I am often afforded a bounty of seasonal fruits and herbs to utilize, from both the Wrench and Rodent and Plot Gardens. That in itself is so inspiring, because often times the chefs will come to me with a byproduct and allow me to come
up with a clever way to transform it into a new cocktail - or, evoke a new feeling.

A more recent example being when Chef Felipe made a sauce from our home grown Summer stone fruits, designed for the finishing course of the tasting menu. He approached me with the leftovers and asked if I wanted to try to do something fun with it, and even though there wasn’t a whole lot left to work with, we got creative and were able to transform the remainder into a cocktail syrup - a bright pink blend of peaches and plum, that would then become the base for a spicy, stone fruit margarita - aptly named the ‘One Night Only.’

Which I would say, tasted a little like being let in last minute to a super exclusive, password protected 80’s dance party… and a little like being told a fun secret over dinner with friends. ;)”
